What is Integrative Somatic Arts Therapy?
Integrative Somatic Arts Therapy works with your body's natural intelligence to process and release what's been held inside. "Somatic" means of the body. Recognizing that your body stores every experience, especially the ones that were too overwhelming to process at the time. This approach combines movement practices, nervous system regulation techniques, vibrational medicine, and creative expression to help you reconnect with your body's own truth and capacity for remembering yourself.
The science is clear: trauma lives in the body, not just the mind. Your nervous system remembers threats and stays active long after danger passes. Studies in neuroscience show that the vagus nerve, your body's main rest-and-digest pathway, can be strengthened through specific practices that involve rhythm, vibration, and conscious breathing patterns. Research in trauma therapy confirms that moving your body in specific ways can complete interrupted stress cycles, while creative expression activates different brain regions than talking, allowing you to process experiences that get stuck when we try to think our way through them.
This integrative approach means you're not limited to one pathway. Some days you need to move energy through your body. Other days you need to regulate your nervous system. Sometimes vibration and frequency can shift what feels frozen. Often, creating something, whether through movement, hands-on, or vocalization, expresses what words never could. By bringing these modalities together, you have multiple access points to work with whatever your body is holding. This isn't about adding more techniques to master, it's about finding which combination helps your unique nervous system remember how to settle, release, and come back home to yourself.
